Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program works with different forms of art techniques: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. The program offers a balance between creating art and responding to art.  The purpose is to increase in the students critical thinking skills, creativity and confidence in their personal abilities.

Visual arts also develop hand-eye coordination and refines fine motor skills, strength and flexibility in the muscles of the fingers, hands, wrists and arms.

Visual Arts help the students improve social skills with positive discussions about an art piece and its importance, collaborations, group work, participation in exhibitions and contexts, developing creativity thinking together.

Visual Arts improve decision-making abilities.  There is a great freedom in art making and an infinite variant of choices and ways to approach each project that needs to be original but feasible.  Through visual art experiences the students have different opportunities to think in a creative and logical way, make their own decisions, and develop self-confidence.
