COVID-19 Update: November 20th, 2020

Dear Fortune Families,

We are writing to share updates and resources with you as Fortune Academy continues to monitor and plan for the implications of the COVID-19 outbreak.  While we have almost no reported exposure to  or cases of the COVID-19 virus, Mayor Hogsett and Dr. Virginia Caine recommended that we suspend all in person classes from November 30th - January 15th to help with prevention and spread of the COVID-19 virus. At this time, we will resume classes VIRTUALLY on November 30th.

Please know that the Administration team has been working very carefully with our teachers to prepare to continue our mission of developing competent and confident life long learners.  We will continue to provide  our specialized instruction to meet the unique  learning needs of your student.

These actions will undoubtedly cause disruption and inconvenience to your schedule, but the risks of not responding are of greater implication to the health and well-being of our staff, students, and families.

In response to these recommendations:

Fortune Academy will begin virtual instruction beginning  November 30th.   We will follow up with regular updates as the situation changes as we work toward returning to in person classes.

We will have a student materials pick up day on   Tuesday, November 24th   between the hours of 1:00pm - 3:30pm. Students will need to use these materials when doing virtual learning.    Administration will be here to deliver the student materials curbside.

We appreciate your patience at this time as we continue to navigate this global pandemic. We are making every effort to continue to provide support to our community and to keep everyone’s health and wellness as a top priority.

Thank you,

Vanessa Coles
